The online streaming industry is booming in India and portals like Netflix and Amazon Prime have redefined entertainment. Where Netflix is streaming hit shows like House of Cards and Stranger Things, Amazon is playing host to prime pieces like Transparent and Bosch. Let’s have a look at who is leading the race:
Netflix facilitates 3 tiers of subscription, each with a different feature list. It has plans starting at Rs. 500 (Basic), extending to Rs. 650 for Standard package and Rs. 800 per month for Premium subscriptions. On the other hand, Amazon charges only a nominal amount of Rs. 83 month for the content it offers. Thus, in terms of price, Amazon prime came off with flying colours.
Netflix seems to be the clear winner when it comes to the catalogue of Hollywood movies and English shows. However, Amazon Prime wins hands down for Bollykwood movies and Hindi shows. Reportedly, Prime holds nearly 10% of the total overk the top streaming market whereas Netflix shares only around 8% of the market.
Both the portals are squaring off against each other with new shows. But currently Amazon seems to be a little ahead of global giant Netflix as it offers more bang for the buck in India's price-sensitive market. Well, in this quest for being the best, Indian viewer is the ultimate prizeman.
