Gross Enrollment Ratio is a statistical measure that is used in the education sector to determine the number of students regardless of the age to find out the official school-age population in order to find out the capacity of an education system to enroll students of a particular age to various grades in a school.

  S.C Sharma, director of National Assessment and Accreditation Council has stated that India’s Gross Enrollment Ratio is very low. He stated that the problem lies at the drastic difference between the statistics of rural India and urban India with the former having a really low percentage compared to former.
