Curiosity Rover is launched by NASA in the year of 2012. Curiosity Rover was sent to Mars to figure out the necessary environment to be habitable for human beings to survive. The general public who were apprehensive at first was surprised when it landed in the Gale Crater using complicated landing techniques that were never used before.

NASA’s Curiosity Rover has completed 6 years of its stay on Mars on 6th of August, the day on which it landed on the Mars surface in the year of 2012. The Rover tweeted marking the occasion of its anniversary on Mars. The Rover was in the news after it discovered traces of sulphur, nitrogen, oxygen in its surface after it drilled through the surface. The terrain consisted of smooth and round rocks which suggested that there was water flowing as a stream on the planet once upon a time. The rover after further stay and research on the red planet detected atmospheric methane and saw an increase of it just within two months and this created a buzz in the public since methane can be produced by chemical reaction between rock and water.

Curiosity Rover is currently stuck in a dust storm and NASA lost contact with another rover called Opportunity due to this. It is expected that the storm will stop soon and the experts at NASA hope it brings in more interesting discoveries and exciting news.
