The Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and the Indian Institutes Management( IIMs) will be roped in for easy assessment and accreditation of higher educational institutes along with official agencies such as NAAC and NBA, Human Resource Development( HRD) Minister Prakash Javadekar said. The IITs and IIMs could expedite their process with the expansion of NAAC and NBA. Only 15%of the institutions are accredited in our country. Accreditation would be based on “learning outcome” and the quality of education would be the determinate factor or the key parameter. The minister’s remarked against the UGC’s policy of granting accreditation to bring more institutions within the same bar. The institution who maintains the quality will remain in the business while the others will be out. Higher Education Secretary R. Subramanyam suggested that “no accreditation, no admission” would be the policy initiative of 2022-2023 onwards keeping in view PM’s vision of a “New India”.
