In the wake of Bharat Bandh and upcoming elections, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh added yet another attack in the series of verbal tiff between BJP and Congress. Manmohan Singh targeted several decisions of Modi government and pointed out the alleged loopholes in all of them. He said that the promises of creating 2 crore jobs has still not been met and the figures released by the government regarding the same are unsatisfactory and manipulated. He lamented over the value of Rupee dropping down to an all-time low to 74 as compared to US Dollar.
Singh went on to say that demonetization was a flop show, especially when RBI revealed that just days after it happened, the black money was back into the system. Further, he said that Modi government has failed to keep its promise of resolving the cross-border tensions and pacifying the issues in Jammu and Kashmir. Even at the 84th Plenary Meeting of Congress that happened in New Delhi, Manmohan Singh was very vocal about his views on Modi government. There he targeted the GST and called it a “hasty legislation”. Singh also pointed out the drastic drop in the incomes of farmers in the country and disparaged the efficiency of BJP government. Foreign policy was among the aspects which was said to be grossly mismanaged by the government as per the former PM. He also promised for a better growth of the nation under Congress.
