Naomi Osaka beat Serena Williams to win her first Grand Slam and U.S open. This win had made her first Japanese women to win a Grand Slam. She beat Serena Williams with an impressive 6-2,6-4 win.

The match has its own set of controversy. In the second round of the match, Serena Williams was awarded a code violation for breaching the rules relating to coaching. It was alleged that her coach was coaching her from the stands. This made her very angry and smashed the racquet on the court which was her second violation.  Because of 2 violation, her opponent Osaka got a point. After which an intense argument was followed. She even called the umpire “thief” and was also heard yelling “I don’t cheat to win, I’d rather lose”.

Because of this incident, the crowd booed at the trophy presentation ceremony which was later cold down by Serena Williams. She told the crowd to make the moment for her memorial as it was her first ever Grand Slam. She even praised Osaka for her level of play.

Serena Williams who has come back to the court for the first time since giving birth to her daughter had to go back empty-handed from the U.S open. If she would have won it would be her 24 Grand Slam which would have equated Margaret record.
