After playing as the captain in World Cup in his motherland itself, Russian goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev decides to take a retirement from the internationals. Since the collapse of the Soviet Union, the Russian crowd witnessed their best tournament and all thanks to the 32-year-old athlete.  Made a debut as an 18-year-old in 2004, he retires with the words that there are a beginning and end to everything at 32 now. Taking pride to be the captain of the team in World cup which was like a dream come true to him; he resigns with a very positive and a peaceful mind. His kicks saved the game in the tournament for his country. Though the team was unable to bag any medal yet they all played with a true sportsman spirit. Igor said the best part of the team was that no one was indifferent from anyone. He has shown a great faith in the upcoming generation and encourages it to play well and bring pride and prestige to its country. Though Russia will be greatly missing its most dependable player yet they look forward to many more Akinfeevs in future to play and win for it.
