Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) here has advised fishermen to be cautious while venturing into the sea with a low-pressure area likely to form over south-east Arabian sea adjoining the Lakshadweep on October 6.
It is likely to concentrate into a depression during the subsequent two days and move north-west. Hence, fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea during October 6-8 off the south Kerala coast, Lakshadweep area, Comorin area and the south-east Arabian Sea.
High wind alert has been sounded along the coasts of Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu south, Lakshadweep, Maharashtra and Gujarat.
Fishermen at deep sea areas of south-east & central Arabian Sea have been advised to return to the coast before October 7. High swell waves in the range of 2.5-2.7 meters are forecast during 17.30 hours on October 2 to 23.30 hours of October 3 along the west coast of Andaman Islands from Ten Degree Channel to Coco Channel. The surface current speeds at the Nicobar Islands will vary between 61-90 cm/sec, the bulletin added.
