The Chief Justice of India Justice Ranjan Gogoi is to launch the Swachh Nyayalaya project on the occasion of Law Day, Which is celebrated each year on 26 of November. This project of the honorable Supreme Court is an extension of the center's Flagship scheme Swachh Bharat mission. Justice Madan B Lokur, the judge at The Supreme Court while speaking at a pre-launch function of 'Swachh Nyayalaya project' said that The project would include construction and maintenance of washrooms in over 16,000 courtrooms.besides this, a mechanism needs to be devised to deal with garbage and also to weed out old case files, Justice Madan B Lokur said while presenting the vision of the program.
At the pre-launch function, it was informed that the said project would be undertaken by the Niti Aayog and the Union Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation along with the Department of Justice whereas the Supreme Court will see the implementation of the Swachh Nyayalaya project. The Justice Madan B Lokur further told that in fact the idea behind this Swachh Nyayalaya is to have those general clean up in terms of maintenance, in terms of housekeeping issues, of course, providing toilets, washrooms and all that is one of the aspects of housekeeping and maintenance but equally important are issues of garbage disposal. He stressed the need to take up the project in "broad perspective" and said that it should not remain confined to toilets and washrooms only. He forwarded the example of the Supreme Court and informed that a large bar room has been made for weeding out old and unnecessary files there in the Apex court. However, the Justice has denied agreeing with the deadline to complete the Swachh Nyayalaya project by 2020. And said that it can be completed within a span of six months.
