Previously on 28th September, 2018 the Supreme Court gave a landmark judgement by allowing women of all ages in Kerala’s renowned Sabrimala temple. Previously in the year 1991 the Kerala High Court banned the entry of women between 10 and 50 years in the Temple. In a majority four-one judgement the Supreme Court said “the practice of age restriction on women entry to Sabrimala temple can’t be treated as an essential religious practice”. But the Nair Service Society and the National Ayyappa Devotee (Women) Association started protesting against the verdict of the Supreme Court. According to them it is believed that the Ayyappa idol is Naishtika Brahmachari(celibate) so that presence of any women aged between 10 -50 will affect the honour and dignity of Lord Ayyappa as for the purpose of protecting Lord Ayyappa’s celibacy it is also believed that he does not want women aged between 10-50 years. Although our Constitution provides equal rights to both men and women and this rule creates a question whether women treated equally in a society or not. Then on 3rd November, 2018 the Supreme Court said that the Court, CJI Ranjan Gogoi and Justice SK Kaul and KM Joseph will hear fresh petitions against latest Sabrimala verdict on 13th November.

On 5th November, 2018 BJP organised a Yuva Morcha Meeting, where Sreedharan Pillai who is a BJP Leader and also an Advocate by profession gave a speech on Sabrimala Temple. He said that the Temple Chief Thantri family did not take the decision of closing doors of Sabrimala Temple for the women of aged 10-50 years old alone. Pillai assured the Temple Chief that this action does not amount to contempt court charges and he also said that as an advocate he is also going to support the Temple Chief for this action. Pillai said BJP was planning for this since when the temple was open for all and he said that everyone is with him and surrendered to his agenda except their enemies. As according to the order of the Supreme Court the doors of the temple is now open for all, two women tried to enter into the temple with Sreejits IPS but the leader of Yuva Morcha stopped them with a large group of men.  According to other political parties, the plan of creating communal issue has been exposed.
