A  couple from Goa, Saish and Trupti urge their wedding guests to not bring them gifts but pledge to donate their eyes on their wedding occasion. They have set up a special stall of Rotary eye bank at the venue itself. They wrote this message in their wedding invitation with a heading “Be the light” and also quoted a verse from the Bhagavad Gita explaining about Satvika Daana (service with no expectations of return but serving as a duty). They especially got it written on the wedding invitation that they would accept blessings only in the form eye donation pledges. However, the couple faced retaliation from the elders saying that on the auspicious occasion of marriage it is not right to speak of death and what happens after death. Saish has explained the noble intention behind such act to which they budged. It is to note that diseases like cataract, myopia and hyperopia or blood groups do not affect the donation process. The cornea part of the eye is used to transplant to another living person to give him the gift of eyesight.
