Indian singer and composer Anu Malik got embroiled in the #MeToo movement and had to step down as a judge of the singing reality show Indian Idol when a lot of women including singers Sona Mohapatra and Shweta Pandit accused him of sexual harassment. When Anu Malik’s nephew Amaal Malik, who is a singer and composer and soon to make his television debut as a judge of the kids singing reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li’l Champs was asked at an interview about the #MeToo accusations on his uncle, he boldly said that he supported the movement and didn’t consider Anu Malik as a part of his family.
Amaal said in the interview, “When it happened, it is obviously a little humiliating. But more importantly, I would like to say that my family is first my four people. Beyond that, I don’t count anyone as a family. Unki Apni family hai (he has his own family) and it was a tough time for them.” Amaal further shared his opinion on the #MeToo movement saying that making accusations on social media could go a little wrong and it would be better if women drag the matter to the Court and solve it through the Judicial system.
