The menace of swine flu in Rajasthan has spread as the number of deaths due to the disease in the desert state has crossed 70 in the new year. 72 deaths have taken place in Rajasthan due to swine flu in January this year. Two deaths happened on Sunday, January 27. A total of 69 positive cases of swine flu came to the fore on Sunday.

Out of these, the majority of the cases (41) were from Jaipur and 6 were from Udaipur. Five each were from Barmer and Jodhpur. A total of 1,856 positive cases of swine flu have come to the fore in Rajasthan this year. In the last thirteen months, more than 200 people have died in Rajasthan due to swine flu. The government is aware of the gravity of the situation. Several high-level meetings have taken place including those where the chief minister and the health minister have been present. However, as the data shows, the situation continues to remain grim.

The state government has issued a high alert. Leaves of doctors and para medical staff in the state were cancelled earlier. The state government claims that it has made arrangements for medicines required to cure patients of swine flu. "We want to appeal to the common people that there is no need to be scared of this disease. There is cure for this, treatment is possible. Is not a incurable disease. But if you do not take advice, will show negligence, will make the situation worse, will then go to the hospital, then the situation for the doctors is also a tad difficult. If you will come on time, treatment is possible.", Dr Raghu Sharma, Rajasthan's health minister, mentioned earlier to India Today. The combined data of 2017 and 2018 show that there have been more than 500 deaths in the desert state due to swine flu in the given period.
