The city cooperation has announced tax rebates for constructions made by incorporating green features in the budget for 2019-2020. The project titled ‘Green Trivandrum’ offers relaxation in property tax for buildings which are constructed with eco-friendly features. The council will decide the tax rebate which shall be awarded to construction. The budget also banks on centre sponsored schemes to launch environment friendly projects in the city. Vehicles running on alternative fuels will be introduced in areas around Shree Padmanabhaswamy Temple on the cost of Rs 50 lakh.
E-auto scheme, which will be launched in the city under the Smart City project, will have a reserved quota for women and transgender people. Transgender people have also been allotted another scheme, which aims at providing accommodation and will function as a development centre. They have already invited tenders for procuring 15 e-autos and 15 e-rickshaws in the city. The budget also promotes Green Protocol. All kids admitted to class I public educational institutions will be given steel plates and water bottle under the scheme ‘little gift’. This will be implemented at the cost of Rs 50 lakh. Green Army, which has been working under the health wing to promote implementation of protocol in events, will be mobilized under Green events project to ensure compliance with green protocol.
The budget also announced schemes to award residents’ association with Suchitwa awards. The budget has beside an amount of Rs 5 lakh for the project. The budget also proposes to expand she lodge scheme to Therakom, kadakampally and medical college. A modern crematorium at kazhakkoottam were progressing. Five parks in the city will be converted as elderly friendly parks of Rs 60 lakh. These include DPI Ulloor Park, AKG park, park at Housing Board Junction and Mudavanmugal Park.
