Prime Minister Narendra Modi wishes Imran Khan and Pakistan on their National Day. This gave an opportunity to the oppositions to take potshots at and to ridicule about. Indian Government was not the one who made this message public, it was publicized by Imran Khan. Many people see it as a sign of weakness on Modi government’s part, but they don’t know that sometimes you can unnerve your disputes with kindness and disarm them.

It shows the Modi government’s strength, that one can exercise graciousness instead of hostility. Imran Khan replied to the message that, he welcomes Prime Minister Modi’s message to their people. As they are celebrating Pakistan Day, it is time to begin a comprehensive dialogue with India to address and resolve all issues, especially the central issue of Kashmir, and to forge a new relationship based on peace for all the people.

Many people will try to criticize Modi’s this step and will say that, Modi is disrespecting the memory of the victims of Pulwama attack and that the actions of his government are contrary to his message. There are also accusations that this message was another pre-election move by Modi Government to gain Muslim votes. The Congress party do not have much grounds for them to attack the NDA government on this issue and there is no need for them to stir up controversy. If any steps are being taken by the BJP party to have reconciliation between India and Pakistan then the opposition parties should try and understand that not everything is done with a reason or motive.
