IPL 2019 is at full swing. In a recent match between Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals took a turn for a controversy due to a decision for a no ball. In the last over, Ben stokes tried to ball a slower ball which turned into an above waist no-ball according to the field empire Ulhas Gandhe. But shortly after that the leg umpire Bruce Oxenford overruled the decision leading to a controversy erupting. This turn of events made the CSK skipper MS Dhoni walk on the field from the dugout to confront both the umpires regarding the decision. At the same time the batsman at the non-striker end Ravindra Jadeja also saw the difference of opinion between the umpires and was confronting the umpires regarding the same.
Meanwhile, Dhoni continued to walk on the field towards the both umpires, telling them that one of the umpire gave a no-ball. Despite his constant protests, the umpire stood by their decision and did not award CSK with a no ball. Due to this CSK still required 6 runs of the last 2 balls with the Kiwi Bowler Mitchell Santner on the strike and leaving Ravindra Jadeja at the non-striker end. Santner finished the job for CSK as he hit a six on the last bowl of the over.
Due to this walking on the field and confronting the umpire, it was later adjudged that Dhoni’s action was violative of IPL’s Code of Conduct and hence his 50% of match fees was cut. The usually calm and collected CSK skipper was quite different from his normal demeanor when he walked on the field furiously protesting, showing that both the passion and stakes run high in the World’s biggest Cricket league.
