Naveen Patnaik, Biju Janta Dal President, and Odisha Chief Minister said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi does not deserve a second term, as he is not successful. In an interview, when he was asked that whether Modi deserves another chance as prime minister, he said ‘no because Modi has not been successful as during the last five years there has been no improvement in unemployment, irrigation, and railways.

Though, he described late Atal Bihari Vajpayee as one of the best prime misters the country had. He also claimed that no national party will get the majority to form government on their own at the centre. The BJD party is keeping their options open to support any party for government formation, but such a government must support the just demands of Odisha and who will support the legitimate demands of Odisha. While making it very clear that they will support the BJP-led government at the centre if it supports the demands of Odisha. After that he was asked about Congress president Rahul Gandhi, he said that ‘he still has to mature.’ 

Naveen Patnaik, who has successfully returned to power every time with better performance since the last two decades, is fighting his fifth consecutive term. BJD government’s biggest achievements are that Odisha is self-sufficient in rice production and disaster management. He has frequently criticized the BJP government during his election rallies and has accused the party of betraying their 2014 manifesto promise of granting special category status to Odisha. He has also blamed the BJP government for Odisha’s poor railway network. In the interview, Naveen Patnaik said that he considers Modi to be his main opponent and that ‘farmers will teach the BJP a great lesson.’
