  • James Cameron, maker of the film “Titanic” congratulated Marvel’s “Avengers: Endgame” on surpassing them at the Box office
  • Endgame collected $2.2 billion in less than two weeks of its release
  • The only other movie to ever beat Titanic at the worldwide box office was James Cameron himself with Avatar in 2009

Hollywood filmmaker, James Cameron, maker of the film “Titanic” has accepted defeat by congratulating Marvel’s “Avengers: Endgame” on surpassing them at the box office. The film has also become the second most successful movies ever made while “Titanic” is the third. It took 22 years for this movie that won 11 Oscars to be defeated. Surpassing Titanic was a big deal since the only other movie to ever beat it at the worldwide box office was James Cameron himself with Avatar in 2009.

Endgame collected $2.2 billion in less than two weeks of its release while Titanic’s lifetime collections were $2.1 billion. Avengers is expected to eclipse Avatar, Jim’s next movie, currently standing at $2.78 billion. The movie may get another congratulation from him if it takes the top spot on the all-time global box office chart.

His appreciation for the movie came as a shocker as he was known for his disapproval of superhero movies. When Marvel’s “Black Panther” crossed “Titanic” at the USA box office, he said that Avengers was a silly movie as all it depicted was “hypogonadal males without families doing death-defying things for two hours and wrecking cities in the process.” This competitive Film Maker seems to be a good sport but it could be because he still holds the number one spot with his movie “Avatar, ” unless Marvel can surpass this record too.
