What a day it was for football as Manchester City defeated Brighton and surpassed the charging Liverpool to win the English Premier League title. This is City’s fourth League title and sixth English top-flight title overall.  Man City had won their last 14 games and claimed the title by their win of 4-0 over Brighton at Brighton and Hove Albion, finishing on 98 points. Liverpool, on January 3 held a lead of 7 points against the City, still finished as runner-up with 97 points to their name, making the team to have highest points for a second-place team in the League’s history. The City became the first team after their toughest rivals Manchester United to retain the title twice after United did it in 2009 and remained on course for the first domestic treble in English football history. Everything was going good for Liverpool when Sadio Mane scored the goal. But goals from Sergio Aguero and Aymeric Laporte has put the Blues back in the lead in the first half. Riyad Mahrez and Ilkay Gundogan scored in the second half to give City a lead of three goals. Liverpool fans must be disappointed as the club throughout the league performed excellently and managed to keep a lead from the City, but in the end, results were not in their favor.
