HIGHLIGHTS

  • UEFA Panel suggested a ban on the newly crowned champions, Manchester City
  • The ban may be enforced for either the year 2019 or 2020
  • This comes as a shock to Manchester City as the financial regulators are determined to suggest a ban

The premier league and the governing body sought a probe against the Champions. This comes in the wake of allegations made by a German Magazine Der Spiegel that the crowned champions broke the Financial Fair play guidelines. The investigation team looked into the accounts of all the clubs which were under the suspicion of the governing body of breaking cost-control rules. The investigatory panel which is headed by the former Prime Minister of Belgium said that it will take the final decision to submit the case to the adjudicatory chamber. Yves Leterme stated that it could be filed within a week’s time from now.

Amongst all the heat and the investigation going on the governing body seeks at least a season ban for the Current champions. However, the crowned champions will have the recourse to the court of arbitration for sports to appeal against the decision. Manchester City had earlier faced a whopping fine amounting to 60 million Euros arising due to the breach of the rules.

The claim denies all the allegations and termed them as fake and baseless. It has been further stated that all this controversy is just a failed attempt to damage their prestige and reputation. The club is confident that the panel will decide what’s right and do justice to the present case.
