Swiggy, the food delivery app has landed itself under a lot of criticism for sending a ‘sorry’ note and a coupon worth Rs.200 to a woman after she was sexually harassed by a Swiggy delivery boy in Bengaluru. The woman alleged that the delivery boy also asked for sexual favours from her. After the apology, the woman decided to take action against the accused and took to Facebook to narrate her ordeal.
The alleged incident took place on Thursday when the delivery boy arrived at her residence, he was saying something to her. But the woman was unable to understand what the delivery boy was saying and when she asked him to repeat, then she realized that the delivery boy was allegedly abusing her and asking her to have sex. She said that “I was taken aback….had to literally snatch my food package from him and shut my door on his face. I was…disgusted to let alone eat, but to even look at the food” and also said that, when she had placed a complaint with the food delivery app and in reply to her complaint the company sent her a ‘sorry’ note and a coupon of Rs.200.
After which Swiggy later apologized to her on Facebook and assured that an action will be taken against the accused. The spokesperson of the food delivery app said that the customer safety is of utmost importance to them at Swiggy, and they maintain zero tolerance towards misbehavior and since this whole ordeal has come to their notice, they have been in touch with the woman constantly. They extend their full support to the investigation and the matter has been resolved with all the parties involved. Swiggy is committed to bringing in the necessary confidence and control in providing great customer experience.
