The Department of Tourism is sanctioning the establishment of various hills and wildlife parks, such as the much-awaited development of Gandhi Hill, which has been in a state of neglect for years. An administrative sanction of 5 crore rupees has been granted towards the establishment Mahatma Gandhi Planetarium, gallery, library and other basic amenities for tourists. The Bhavani Island Tourism Corporation has been given the responsibility of converting the Hill into a tourism hub. The Hill had been inaugurated in 1971, and since then, many attempts to develop it turned futile due to various reasons. The Department has also sanctioned 8 crore rupees for the establishment of a wildlife park that is to include a bird arena and sea lion park in Bhavani Island. The Department is also preparing to host the second Air Show 2018 on banks of River Krishna near Bhavani Island at a cost of 80 lakh rupees. The show will be organised by the Federation of the Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), New Delhi, from November 23-25 of this year.
