Despite drones being prohibited from being flown over or inside Taj Mahal, a drone caused shock among the officials of security enforcement agencies when it was found doing rounds above the historical monument on Wednesday. Tourism Police force frantically took the drone into its possession and began with the search for the drone’s owner immediately after the incident was reported. It turned out that the mastermind behind that drone was a Chinese citizen.
He has been taken into custody and is being questioned by the police. All this comes even after the Supreme Court of India recently gave strict directions with respect to the security of Taj Mahal. As per the Court’s directions, there is a no-flying zone where such activities of flying of drone are strictly prohibited. Agra Police has also released an advisory to this effect which points out the limitation to fly a drone in certain areas around Taj Mahal. Taj Security CEO Mr. Prabhat Kumar confirmed the occurrence of the events narrated above. He also revealed that the CISF personnel on duty, on spotting the drone, informed the Tourism Police immediately about the drone. The Police then took the drone and the Chinese owner of the drone into custody and interrogated about the entire incident.
If reports are to be believed, no objectionable things were found in possession of the Chinese citizen. Interrogation also revealed that he was not aware about the limitations imposed on flying of drone in that particular area. He was set free after being interrogated. It was two months ago that the apex court had emphasized the need for increasing the security in and around Taj Mahal and given directions to Yogi Government in a rebuking tone. Even Archeological Survey of India (ASI) was remonstrated for failing to take care of the world heritage site. Amidst this, the incident of this drone is definitely a bad news for the authorities concerned.
