The idea of making another parallel wide bridge near to it came from this terrible accident. The draft plan of this bridge has been made by Delhi Government on that same year. The construction of this bridge started in the year of 2004. For the purpose of the completion of this project the Government has faced several obstacles such as lack of manpower and financial difficulties. Previously it has been decided that the bridge will be inaugurated before the 2010 Commonwealth Games but subsequently the deadline has been missed. Since then several fresh deadlines have been fixed and at last the bridge has been inaugurated in the month of November, 2018. It can be said that Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal has gifted this bridge to the citizens of Delhi on the occasion of Diwali. The bridge is made of steel and concrete and the height of this bridge is 165 metres (541 ft) and width 35.2 metres (115 ft) and total length 675 metres (2215 ft). The size of this bridge is twice of the size of the Qutub Minar. This bridge, which is made on the Yamuna river connects East Delhi to Wazirabad. the Delhi Tourism and Transport Development Corporation (DTTDC) spend ?1,518.37 crore for the purpose of construction of this bridge. The Signature Bridge is one of the much-awaited projects of Delhi. The Signature bridge is the India's first asymmetrical cable-stayed bridge. Kejriwal said on this issue that this country needs bridges, schools and hospitals not temples and statues.
