The spectators at Hyderabad witnessed a thrilling last-ball finish as MI emerged victorious in a neck to neck battle. MI batting first set a target of 150 runs which according to the cricket experts was slightly below par. Keiron Pollard being the man of the finals he is once again stood there for his team till the last over scoring 41 of just 25 balls.
Shane Watson 81 was not enough to take CSK home as he was run out in the last over leaving behind Ravindra Jadeja and Shardul Thakur who were new at the crease. MI’s victory denied the defending champions a fourth title. Malinga proved costly in his first three overs giving away 42 runs but Jasprit Bumrah was the one who pulled it back for his side with amazing figures of 14 runs in just four overs and picking two wickets. The turning point of the game was MS Dhoni’s run not which proved to be costly for CSK as the team has in the whole tournament looked up to its captain to do the job for them. Dhoni was run out by Ishan Kishan when he was on just 2 runs and ultimately the defending champions fell short by the same amount of runs to clinch their fourth title.
