In the wake of this Climate change effort, a climate action summit is scheduled to be held later in the month of September at the United Nations. This summit is the last opportunity to prevent climate change which is proving costly all across the globe. UN Secretary-General is set to meet the families of people whose lives were drastically affected by natural disasters such as floods, cyclones, drought and other extreme weather conditions in the areas of Fiji, Vanuatu, and Tuvalu.
Meanwhile, Fiji is aiming to build an organization of 90 countries from the areas of Asia, the Caribbean, and Africa who are the worst sufferers of Climate Change. Satyendra Prasad, Fiji’s UN Ambassador to AFP is confident that Guterres will draw motivation from his visit to Fiji and will further provide support to the affected areas.
Donald Trump’s stance is pretty much clear on the issue of Climate change as he has made the USA pull out of the Paris Agreement. China’s stance on Human Rights is not clear as other nations are suspicious of China’s participation in curbing human rights violation and promoting development. This summit is being looked upon as being critical as it comes in the wake of issues like rising levels of CO2, Species going extinct and many of them being on the verge of extinction. All the above issues have made the target out of reach of the United Nations.
