  • Bangladesh defeated South Africa by 21 runs to register their first win in the tournament

The series of losses continue for the Proteas as they lost their second match against Bangladesh by 21 runs. It was a high scoring match with both the teams scoring above 300 runs. The 5th Match of ICC World Cup 2019 was played between Bangladesh and South Africa wherein Bangladesh batted first and scored a whopping score of 330 by the loss 0f 6 wickets in the 50 overs. Shakib Al Hasan scored a brilliant 75 of the 84 deliveries he faced. He got excellent support from the wicketkeeper-batsman Mustfiqur Rahim who scored a brilliant knock of 78 in the 80 deliveries he faced. Mahmudullah then played an excellent role of the finisher scoring s blazing 46 of the 33 deliveries he faced. South Africa came down to chase this huge total and could not get the good start they were hoping for. Their first wicket fell at the score of 49 runs when Quinton De Kock lost his wicket in the try of speeding the run rate. Faf Du Plessis played a captain’s knock scoring 62 runs off the 53 deliveries he faced. He got small supports from David Miller and JP Duminy who scored a quick 41 and 45 respectively. But their efforts didn’t prove enough and South Africa fell short of 21 runs from the total.
