Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his recent remark had said that there was an urgent need to address the needs of the minority section and to work for their all-round development in the country. Ascertaining to this a group of eminent Muslim citizens have welcomed this remark by the Prime Minister and has offered to engage and provide total support to combat the issues faced by the minorities. These issues mainly include educational backwardness, skill development and confidence building measures. They referred to a speech delivered by Narendra Modi on May 26 and in a letter said that they were happy to hear that the Prime Minister has decided to ‘equivocally’ serve all the section of the society. They further added that bringing the marginalized into the mainstream is one of the most essential requirements for turning India into the world’s largest economy. The letter also talked about the insecurity among the minorities of the country. Regarding this, in the letter, they said that they would welcome confidence-building measures between the minorities and the government and that the minorities may feel equal protection under the law. Signatories included Faizan Mustafa, vice-chancellor of National Law College, Hyderabad, Fakhruddin Mohammad, chairman, Mesco Group, Mahmood Madani and NiazFarooqui from JamiatUlama-i-Hind and a few others eminent Muslim personalities in the country.
