Shanghai Cooperative Organisation (SCO) is an eight-member economic and security bloc led by China. In 2017, India, and Pakistan were added to the SCO. This year, SCO summit is scheduled to be held on June 13-14 in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. Chinese President Xi Jinping will attend this SCO summit at Bishkek and also meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This is their first meet after BJP won in the elections.
Lu Kang, the Foreign Ministry spokesperson announced that Xi will go for the state visit of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan from June 12 to 16. Vikram Misri, Indian Ambassador to China remembering last year’s first informal summit between Xi and Modi are a milestone in Bilateral Ties, he said: “It is worth mentioning that last year, our leaders met four times on the sidelines of different multilateral meetings.“ He said again they are meeting in the Bishkek on the sidelines of SCO.
Wuhan Summit between Xi and Modi on April 27-28 have largely helped in Bilateral Relations between the countries about 73 days Doklam Standoff, in which Chinese were attempting to build a road close to Indian border which is also claimed by Bhutan in 2017. After the Wuhan summit efforts were made for amicable relations and also, military to military ties. Last year in December PM met Xi at G-20 Summit. After the elections, Xi also congratulated Modi for his winning.
