Prime Minister Narendra Modi will today meet and hold talks with the President of Sri Lanka Maithripala Sirisena. He will also meet the Sri Lankan leader of opposition Mahinda Rajapaksa and will later meet the leaders of Tamil National Alliance. Prime Minister Narendra Modi today signed the visitors’ book and he was accompanied by President Maithripala Sirisena. Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to victims at St. Anthony Church in Colombo. The Church has faced the terrorist attack on Easter Sunday in April this year. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has tweeted, "I am confident that Sri Lanka will rise again. The cowardly act of terror cannot defeat the spirit of Sri Lanka. India stands in Solidarity with the people of Sri Lanka."
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also tweeted that “Happy to be back in Sri Lanka, my third visit to this beautiful island in four years. Share the warmth showed by the people of Sri Lanka in equal measure. India never forgets her friends when they are in need. Deeply touched by the ceremonial welcome.” In preparation of Modi’s visit, the Sri Lankan’s capital nerve center, its Galle face where the presidential secretariat and most ministries are located, has been all barricaded for much of the weekend.
