Trent Boult has become the first bowler of New Zealand to take a Hat-trick in the World Cup, but Australia still bagged the victory against New Zealand at Lords, with the pace spearhead Mitchell Starc and batsmen Usman Khawaja for the defending. Australia has already been through to the last four from the 10- team round which was wobbling at 92-5 after winning the toss.

Usman Khawaja who scored 88 runs has steadied the ship with the support of Alex Carey who scored 71 runs and was also the man of the match. Khawaja became the victim of the last over hat-trick of Boult. Team Australia finished at 243-9. New Zealand was slumped at 157 for all out with 38 balls remaining.

It has not been confirmed that New Zealand will be entering the semi-finals or not as they have one match to go but if England loses to India in today’s match, New Zealand will be in the last four before they face England in their final group match. Australia has already secured their place in the semi-finals remaining on top with 14 points in eight matches, followed by India with 11 points in six matches. New Zealand has remained at third spot with 11 points from eight matches.
