The U.S. named the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) as a terror organization on July 2. "The BLA is an armed separatist group targeting safety forces and civilians, primarily in Pakistan's ethnic Baloch regions," the U.S. said in a declaration of the state department.
The BLA, the Baloch movement's armed wing, has performed several brutal assaults in Pakistan. It has about 6,000 frameworks spread across the province of Balochistan and in Afghanistan's border regions.
The BLA survived the longest in the Baloch movement's seven centuries. It was born from the tradition of armed activists previously backed by the Marri, Bugti, Mengal, and other clans or sardars. In the past, the Baloch movement has been influenced by the Soviet Union and radical Marxist ideology, and Moscow has trained some of its leaders. The BLA remains to draw from the same revolutionary spirit but added it to the younger fighter generation.
