On July 6, a special court of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has convicted the former BJP MP Dinu Bogha in the murder of RTI Activist Amit Jethva. The court has also convicted six others in the murder case. The decree of punishment will be decided on July 11. Amit Jethva was shot dead in front of the Gujarat High Court on July 20, 2010, by the two assailants. Through the RTI queries, Jethva has exposed the illegal in the Gir Forest, which allegedly involved the former parliamentarian. Gir Forest is the only one which has Asiatic Lions.
K.M. Dave, a special CBI Judge, has convicted the seven accused which includes the former Lok Sabha member from the Junagadh constituency in the Saurashtra region, Solanki. Here, BJP MP has been charge sheeted by the CBI as the key conspirator of the murder of RTI Activist Amit Jethva. It has been established by the CBI that Amit Jethva was killed on the command of Solanki as he brought to light the illegal mining activities, wherein the MP was involved, in the prohibited areas of Gir Forests. Basically, the findings were based on the Call Data Record (CDR).
The murder case was previously dealt with by the Ahmedabad Detection Crime Branch (DCB), in which they had charge-sheeted six people. But later, the DCB gave a clean chit to the accused. The Father of Jethva has moved to Gujarat High Court and filed a petition seeking a fair investigation by the CBI. After 100 out of the total of 195 witnesses has become hostile, the High Court has ordered a reinvestigation of this high-profile case. Justice Dave has provided security cover to Jethva’s Father and his family in this case as sought by the Father.
