Gaming is a type of entertainment that brings excitement into your mundane lives. The thrill of gaming is such that it is almost equal to the rush provided by extreme sports, but excess of anything is bad. The more you keep getting addicted to it, the more distress it can cause to you, physically as well as mentally.
It is true that some experts say that games improve hand–eye coordination and problem-solving skills, it simultaneously may cause major health issues. Even the World Health Organisation (WHO) has now officially included gaming disorder as a disease in the International Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems. It is categorized as a disorder or a recurrent behaviour where the player starts giving priority to gaming over other daily activities including relationships, work and education.
Experts in the field of mental and physical health, child development and psychology have conducted studies on the impact of gaming because there is no definite answer or recommendation for the same. Games such as PUBG and BlueWhale have engaged young minds because of their dynamic gameplay and interactive features. Its proliferation has been largely based on peer influences – while there may be some negative impacts, they may be mitigated by more positive influences wherein children are able to use games to find a balance, and use them as recreation. Blue whale, on the other hand, has manipulated and led vulnerable, young, and socially isolated people to behave in ways that are detrimental to their health.
