  • Gunfight between maoists and police at Narayanpur,Chandigarh
  • During the gunfire, two Jawans were injured
  • After the gunfire , the search operation recovered bodies of five maoists

While the security forces were petrolling off a forested patch , a group of armed rebels opened indiscriminate fire which happened between security forces and some maoist in the Narayanpur district of Chandigarh around 6am. The exchange of fire happened for a period of one and half hours in which two jawans of the District Reserve Guard (DRG) were injured. It occurred in a forest near dhurbeda village which was 20 kms away from the Orchha police station. This took place when a District Reserve Guard team was out on a counter-insurgency operation said the Director General of Police (DGP) D.M. Awasthi, who was appointed specially to combat Left Wing Extremism in the state

After the fight they disappeared the dense forest because of the retaliatory operation that took place. Aer which the search operation took place in which bodies of five Naxals were recovered from the spot. Besides, a huge cache of weapons was also seized from there said the officials. Further the officials said that the reinforcement was rushed to the spot and efforts are on to retrieve the injured personnel from dense forest.  Subsequently the security forces were tightened up and they have put on high alert in five districts of odisha.
