Mallika Sarabhai a Social Activist who inaugurated the Samathwa-2019 workshop programme which was organised by the Additional Skill Acquisition Programme (ASAP) on ‘Enhancing gender equity in employment in industries and businesses in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.’
In the programme, she said that different type of skills should be imparted to the women and job opportunities should be created for them in greater amount so that the gender stereotypes can come to an end and both men and women are able to get equal priorities in terms of getting a job, education or any in kind of opportunities.
Additional Skill Acquisition Programme's (ASAP) Chief Executive Officer, Veena N. Madhavan and the Training Head Anil Kumar also spoke on this occasion. Education Minister Dr. K.T. Jaleel also said that the educational sectors in our country is biased and has a contradictory scenario in dealing with girls / women’s education, there is a gender imbalance in the workplaces too, he stated. Dr. Jaleel also said that there is no form of explicit or implicit gender biasness in their institutions. Dr. Sarabhai said that there is a need to break the patriarchal system in the society by developing the skills of the women and also by creating job opportunities for them.
