The Central Bureau of Investigation carried out a surprise raid in almost 150 places across the country as a drive to curb corruption in government departments. These drives were conducted by the vigilance officers of concerned ministries and government departments. These special drives and raids were conducted in places where the ordinary citizens and small businesses think and feel there is maximum corruption in the government department.
An official of Central Bureau of Investigation said that the drive has been taken up as part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "ease of living and doing business" concept. The raid which was done on Friday includes various government departments that include railways, coal mines & coalfields, medical/healthcare organizations, customs and Food Corporation of India. Further the officials said that these raids will be followed up by campaigns which enables common citizens to become aware about how they could reach out to government departments and redress their complaints.
Places where these surprise raids were conducted include Delhi, Jodhpur, Guwahati, Shillong, Chandigarh, Faridabad, Sangrur, Srinagar, Chennai, Madurai, Kolkata, Bhubaneswar, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Mumbai, Pune, Sholapur, Gandhinagar, Bhopal, Raipur, Jaipur, Nagpur, Jabalpur, Patna, Lucknow, Ghaziabad, Dehradun, Ranchi, Visakhapatnam, Guntur, Vijayawada, Cochin, Kollam, Hanamakonda, Karimnagar, Chirmiri, Secunderabad, Katni, Bina, Vadodara, Himmat Nagar, Dhanbad, Kasauli, Samastipur, Danapur, Mokama and Puducherry.
