  • Wi-Fi calling services for both video calls and voice call
  • no extra charges required
  • VoWiFi International will be announced in the next few weeks

Bharti Airtel was the first telecom operator which brought up the concept of Wi-Fi calling services in the Indian Market. The concept was announced by the company in December 2019 but it seems that Reliance Jio, another Indian telecommunications company stands no less in the market and therefore, has introduced the new idea of Wi-Fi calling for both video calling and voice calling in India.

After a lot of trials in the Delhi NCR to make this service actually work, Reliance Jio is now all set to offer the services of Wi-Fi calling to all its users across the country. Unlike Airtel’s Wi-Fi calling services being restricted to Airtel Xtreme broadband services (although the company is working on that), Jio Wi-Fi calling works with all Wi-Fi networks and it isn’t just limited to certain Jio Fiber.

Jio has already revealed the date of the grand service which will be between January 7 to January 16th. Its Wi-Fi calling services support 155 handsets approximately, even in the patchy network area it will not be inconvenient for the users to make calls. It consumes less than half MB of data for call per minute.

All the customers who have an active Jio tariff plan and a smartphone that is capable for Wi-Fi calling can easily avail this service by switching on their Wi-Fi calling feature in the tool bar. Jio clearly mentions that in order to have smooth experience both VOLTE and Wi-Fi calling options should be turned on all the time. After this set up, the phones will automatically toggle between Wi-Fi calling and cellular network in order to provide a seamless experience. Also no additional charges will be required to avail this service, Jio explains that all the Wi-Fi calls to an Indian number regardless of your location inside the country will be free of charges, While the Wi-Fi calls to any international number will be billed under “International Calls”.

The Company clearly mentioned that the new and innovative VoWiFi International will be announced in the next few weeks so as to make the Internatinal Wi-Fi calling system dynamic and more convinient for frequent travellers.
