BEING NOMINATED TO RAJYA SABHA the previous CJI RANJAN GOGOI SEEMS TO RETURN BACK TO ACTION
On Monday, the previous CJI Ranjan Gogoi was nominated to Rajya Sabha by the President Ram Nath Kovind. An affidavit from the Indian government reads, “in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-clause (a) if Article 80 of the Constitution of India, read with clause (3) of that article, the President is pleased to announce and nominate Shri Ranjan Gogoi to the Council of States to fill the vacancy caused thanks to retirement of 1 of the nominated member.”
Justice Ranjan Gogoi retired from the Supreme Court on November 17, 2019, his tenure of working are going to be immortal in everyone’s heart as Gogoi along will five-judges delivered the congruent verdict of Ram Janmabhoomi- Babri Masjid land dispute case. In 2018, he also did an unprecedented group discussion together with three other judges.
Vowed the constitution on October 3, 2018 because the 46th justice of India Gogoi headed a bench with a 3:2 majority verdict allowing all the ladies and girls irrespective of their age to enter the nice Sabarimala Temple.
Last year he faced the allegation of harassment. the ladies alleged that the CJI had attempted to the touch het inappropriately in his main office. But soon when a bench of Judges sat together for the ultimate results which clearly said that the allegation was a “conspiracy”.
Reports state that in response to the nomination of former CJI Ranjan Gogoi as a member of Rajya Sabha by the President, Gogoi’s former colleague (retired) Justice Madan B Lokur said “There has been speculation for a few time now about what horrific would Justice Gogoi get. So, in this sense the nomination isn't surprising, but what's surprising is that it came so soon. This redefines the independence, impartiality, and integrity of the Judiciary Has the last bastion fallen?”
On his nomination former Justice Gogoi said, "I'll attend Delhi probably tommorow. Let me take the oath first then i will be able to speak in details to the media that why i accepted this and why i'm visiting Rajya Sabha."
