GERMAN STATE FINANCE MINISTER THOMAS SCHAFER COMMITTED SUICIDE

 

On Sunday, the State Minister of Germany Thomas Schafer committed suicide due to ‘STRESS OVER CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC’. The minister’s body was found on the high-speed train track in the town of Hochheim near Wiesbaden.

Allegedly, the politician left a note which clearly reveals the reason of his act. The Emergency medical technicians (EMT) were the first to notice the body on the train track, they initially failed to identify the minister due to the high damage caused. Although, the Police did not reveal any details of the investigative case but the investigators confirmed the case to be a clear suicidal attempt.

According to the Media Agency in the state of Hesse, the Minister aged 54-years-old was constantly seen addressing the general public in the recent days, the address was generally on the crucial subject of deep financial Crisis during the coronavirus pandemic. Some of the citing sources close to the ministry reveal that Schafer had “considerable worries” over the rampant coronavirus.

Schafer was a member of Chancellor Angela Merkel’s Center right Christian Democrats (CDU). He served as a politician of the Hessian State for more than two decades and was the finance minister for a decade. It was said that if Volker Bouffier didn’t stand for re-election 2023 then, Schafer was to succeed the state premier.

“Schafer’s sudden death has shocked me, shocked all of us in the party, it has hit us and left us sad and stunned,” wrote CDU’s Chief Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer on her Twitter handle.

Volker Bouffier stated that the state’s leadership has received the news with “sadness and disbelief”. He also mentioned that Schafer had been under high considerable worries and stress due to the deadly COVID-19 pandemic.

Bouffier said, “His main concern was whether he could manage to fulfil the huge expectations of the population, especially in terms of financial aids. For him, there was clearly no way out. He was disappointed and so he had to leave us all, that has shocked us, has shocked me.”

“Our sincere condolences go to his close relatives,” he added.
