Every day, you wake up either with the help of an alarm or with the help of a woman. This woman could be your mother, wife, or your sister, who does not just go to the office for work, but also keep the house up and running. Even if it is Sunday, they still got a lot of work to do. A holiday has been a priced asset for them, one which is valued beyond any kind of currency. No matter what, they always work, and to complete the work, they are always the first to wake up and the last to go to sleep. The amount of work they do, they usually do not get the required sleep, but they keep on working like a machine.

With the lockdown being implemented, and everyone forced to sit tight in their house, these women are still working every day to make sure the family gets the best food to eat, get to live comfortably, get to wear fresh food, and a clean house. We often, do not appreciate the hard work they put in and take them for granted and always criticize them for focusing on office work more than focusing on the house chores.

It is only when we try to clean the utensils and the house, that a lot of hard work is required to keep the house up and running, let alone in a liveable condition. Not just that, it is expected that the coronavirus is going to hit women more than men. The virus appears to disproportionately affect women. because the fight against COVID-19 continues, an increasing number of girls around the world are on the front lines. Many of them are going to be expected to figure longer hours while juggling domestic responsibilities like childcare.

In general, the lockdown has increased the burden of household chores for ladies. Offices and schools have closed thanks to which husband and youngsters are reception full time. Helping staff as maids and dhobi have left for his or her home towns. The elderly are at greater risk of infection so that they need greater care and a spotlight. For working women, things are worse. Work from home has doubled their workload. It’s not a vacation for her. She must cook, clean, wash, feed, teach, and also attend to her workplace requirements at an equivalent time. Lucky few have helping spouses and youngsters which reduce the workload but by and enormous patriarchy has conditioned her and every one those around her into believing that household work is primarily a woman’s responsibility.
