Automobile Industry plays a vital role in boosting and enhancing the GDP as well as the economy of India. The automobile industry is one of the fastest-growing sectors in India. With the increase in population, the demand for people is also increasing gradually. People now demand more comfort and luxury. Hence, the increase in the demand for cars, and other vehicles, powered by the increase in income is the primary growth driver of the automobile industry in India. The automobile industry is a major industrial and economic force worldwide. The industry manufactures approx 60 million cars and trucks in a single year. They are responsible for almost half the world's consumption of oil. Despite facing problems like overcapacity and low profitability, the automobile industry has a strong influence and importance. The Indian auto industry is one of the largest in the world. The automobile industry is a good employment generator as it employs about 13 million people in India. Among other industries, the automobile industry in India is understood to be the most dynamic. Since the automobile industry has such a huge impact on the economy of our country, it is the role of the government to take new and better initiatives for the more effective functioning of this industry.

The major instrument governing the automobile industry in India is the Motor Vehicles Act 1988 (MVA) read with the Central Motor Vehicles Rules 1989 (CMV Rules) issued by the central government constitutes the principal regulatory framework for manufacture, registration, and insurance of automobiles and automobile's parts. The manufacturing and maintenance of an automobile must go hand in hand with the parameters and standards as prescribed under the CMV Rules and those notified by the central government from time to time. All the automobile industries must follow the CMV Rules or the proper functioning of the industry They need to follow the registration process for establishment and recognition. There should be a proper rule and law regarding disposing of waste materials and harmful gases from the industry.
