Space Force was recently released on Netflix worldwide, there were high expectations from the show as it had a perfect case, produced by the creators The Office, starring Steve Carell, that is Michael Scott from Dunder Mifflin Paper Company, Scranton. But the show failed to impress as it was trying ‘too much’ to be like The Office or Veep for that matter.

The premise is that the US government has set up a new military branch called the Space Force. But since they needed a little more than that, there's more to it. Steve Carell is starring at General Mark Naird. At the start of the show, after his promotion to the four-star general, he expects to take over as Chief of Staff of the Air Force. But destiny has other things in mind for him, and now, he has the less glamorous job of Director of Space Force Operations. A year back, he was at a sprawling base in Nowheresville, Colorado, with Erin 's daughter (Diana Silvers).

It's not a bad show, not a long shot. But it's just not as good as it should have been. It's not very funny for one thing. Most of the time, the jokes are too wide. The satire lacks the sharpness of Daniel's other recent series, Upload. And sometimes, the symbol is absent. Satire is great when it strikes, but the term that kept coming to me when I watched the show was "mean-spirited." Maybe they weren't meant to threaten the series with animal deaths (in episode 2)?

As the season goes on, the series is getting stronger by percentages. Naird appears to consider more of his foundation (and his humanity) and his combative friendship with Mallory becomes more cooperative. But the other parts of the show are still underdeveloped, like Erin's entire deal. She rarely goes past the stereotypical cynical adolescent. You can't help but compare her to the April Parks and Recreation, especially when a sweet doofus, Duncan (Spencer House), is trying to court her.

The show does have the potential to be something better than what it currently is, we have to wait what the show holds in the second season, just like The Office which was able to overcome from the British version of The Office only after the first season.
