Human beings are born with the basic immune system, through constant interaction with microbes we learn to fight against the new microbes which help us to strengthen the immune system.
Immunity is the function of certain cells, enzymes, and immunomodulatory chemicals that attack pathogens and prevent them from creating diseases.
In the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak, entire mankind across the globe is suffering. Enhancing our immunity is playing an important role in fighting against coronavirus.
As there is no medicine for COVID-19 as of now so we should take preventions and boost immunity at these times.
Ayurveda has been with us for centuries and it propagates the gifts of nature in maintaining a healthy and happy life.
Even the ministry of Ayush recognizes that Ayurveda is helpful in immunity-boosting and everyone should take preventive measures against coronavirus.
Recommended measures by Ayush ministry are:
General measures:
Drinking warm water throughout the day; practice yoga asanas, pranayam, and meditate for at least 30 minutes; using spices like Haldi, Jeera, Dhaniya, and Lahsun are recommended in cooking by the Ministry.
Ayurvedic immunity-boosting measures:
Take Chyawanprash; drink herbal tea or Kada made from Tulsi, dalchini, kali mirch, once or twice a day at jaggery instead of sugar for fresh lemon juice for taste.
Simple ayurvedic procedures:
Apply sesame oil or coconut oil or ghee in both the nostrils morning and evening and;
Do oil pulling therapy.
If you have a dry cough or sore throat steam inhalation with fresh pudina leaves or ajwain can practice once in a day take laung powder mixed with natural sugar or honey will help in case of cough for throat irritation.
But it is advised to consult a doctor if these types of symptoms persist.
Anytime is a good time to think and strengthen your immunity:

  • Choose intelligent easy to digest foods

  • Cook with immune-boosting

  • Ear immune-boosting foods

  • Cook your food but not too much

  • Eat at the proper time

  • Eid the proper quantity

  • Choose foods for your body type and for the season

Along with this people should gargle at least twice a day with warm water, and meditate to reduce stress as this lockdown has taken a toll on everyone's mental health. Meditation settles the nerves and calms the mind.
And try to improve your sleep cycle, try jotting down the things which you are grateful for, and the tasks you have to perform the next day it keeps the mind positive and helps to focus and reduces stress to have a good night's sleep.
