The Immortals of Meluha is Amish Tripathi’s first book and also the first book of Shiva Trilogy. The book is a gripping mythological story written in modern style.

The book is an enthralling combination of action, kinship, romance, suspense, and thrill.

The story sets in the land of Meluha, Swadweepand, and Dandaka Forests cover almost all the modern provinces of India and commences with the arrival of the Shiva.

The Meluhans believe that Shiva is their fabled savior Neelkanth, in their war against the Chandravanshis, who had joined forces with a cursed Nagas.

However, in the course of his journey and the fight that ensues, Shiva becomes aware of how his choices are affected by who he aspires to be and how they lead to dire consequences.

It is based on a radical idea that all Gods were once human beings, but it was their deeds in the social life forms that made them achieve the status of Gods.

While reading the book, the reader comes across different versions of Shiva.

As described by critics, the book is a beautiful creation. It feels like plunging into the icy and venerable waters of the Manasarovar Lake while reading the book. One can sense the beats of Shiva’s Dumitru and fumes of the intoxicating chillum.

There’s rarely any exaggeration of Shiva’s character, as I expected there would be in the foresight.

The details and descriptions are incredibly meticulous and mind capturing. The author has nicely blended mythology, historical and archeological facts in this book. Packed with action, romance, life lessons, strategies, twists, and turns, it’s a must-read book in anyone’s list.

The book questions the reader about the perception of sight as derived from norms set by different societies across time.

God’s possessing superhuman strength seemed so human in this book. This book teaches and has logical reasoning for everything that we are today.

At the end of this book, the ‘To be continued...’ leaves you at heights of curiosity and prompts you to read the following sequels.

Amish made me feel like I should complete all the books in the series ASAP. One can anticipate the charm of the wordsmith by the fact that the book had to be reprinted several times to keep up with the demand.
