Virat Kohli has always been seen disconnected in the past seasons while playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL. But this year he welcomes the sense of calmness as he prepares to lead the side this year which he not even felt in 2016. Even with the presence of champion players like Kohli and AB de Villiers, RCB for the last three seasons has failed to even qualify for the playoffs and the team last played the final in 2016. This was the season in which Kohli struck an unprecedented four hundred. The RCB team shared that every part of the 2016 IPL was loved by each and every player and everyone in the squad felt balanced. These were the similar views of Virat Kohli which were shown on the RCB's YouTube show "bold diaries" in which he shared his thoughts on the upcoming IPL in UAE starting from September 19.  He even said that both he and AB de Villiers feels that this could be breakthrough seasons and the tables would turn and would be flattering for RCB this time.

He even expresses out that he had never felt such calmness in this season compared to the others and even AB is coming from a very different space and enjoying his life and is very relaxed and fit.  Virat also felt that he is in a much better place, a much more balanced environment, and would be able to give tough competition in IPL this time. It is the first time he feels that he is not burdened by any baggage.

He believed that with skilled bunches of players, people are always keen to see them play and that is the reason why the public expects so much from RCB. Kohli's suggested that Mike Hesson being the head of coaching staff is a great move, as he is a better bridge between management and players. The reason for getting Mike Hesson back was that he can be a mediator at such a time where communication is really important support not only for the owner as he takes the responsibility but also for players who will perform such responsibility during the game. Even though in past seasons, they have not shown great success but still the top management has full faith in them and this is the only reason which keeps the skipper in focus and motivated on the cricketing things.

This time IPL will be played in U.A.E across 3 places, namely: Dubai, Sharjah, and Abu Dhabi. The tournament was moved out of India due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
