HIGHLIGHTS

  • Apple iPhone in India
  • Apple expansion and high prices
  • How apple can fix the issues.

Apple is one of the world's most profitable companies having the most valuable products. The Apple iPhone is one such product that has experienced a lot of success across the globe. In the last couple of years, iPhone sales are low, the general smartphone sales also declined because an average person has a smartphone and there is no one left to sell. Apple is a public company the sales have to meet the demand and also needed to increase its revenue yearly to make the shareholders happy. The last strategy bought forward to upgrade users was not been successful because the quality of the iPhone has improved over time making the users reluctant to upgrade.

There are two methods to curb the problem of low sales that is acquiring new users or the method of switching users from competing brands. The number of people is limited in number and countries like India have been a major concern for companies like Apple. India has 1.3 billion people and 44 Indians get out of extreme poverty every minute. They are potential customers to American companies like Google, Uber, Apple, etc. Apple has been very successful in many countries but with certain regions in India that aren't experiencing smartphone saturation, Apple hasn't been doing well. Due to the high price of the iPhone Apple has recorded an increase in profit but for a country like India, this strategy would not be effective. Apple also has the disadvantage of high import duty in India. There is a very high import duty charged on the phone which is not made in India.

The iPhone software experience is also not so good. Apple Pay hasn't been launched in India. Apple Maps also have problems. There is also a lack of Apple stores in India whether is it online or retail. They cant simply start retail stores in India because they adhere to government restrictions. To fix the problems Apple has to increase the number of Indian users, it should focus region-wise and need to educate customers about the advantages of the iPhone. They should also establish a large manufacturing presence sourcing various hardware components from the region. Apple can also tailor their products to more Indian markets so they can be sold at a lower price. They should also improve their other services like Maps Services, Siri, Virtual Assistant, Apple Pay. To fit into the Indian market Apple should change its strategy. They should produce locally manufactured products at low prices and with improved features to compete with rivals.
