HIGHLIGHTS

  • Indian Socialist is not interested in holding office personally.
  • Indian Socialism is Gandhian enough to wear Khadi.
  • An indian socialist should be a thinker first then doer and then a strategist.

Are there any socialists left in Indian politics, Ram Vila Paswan raised a question? While looking at his career graphs he had socialist origins, beliefs, and affiliations and these answers will prove that India's socialists belong to the pages of dry - as -dust history. There are many individuals who are following old-style socialism such as India's working class, peasantry, and migrant labor. Medha Patkar, Yogendra Yadav are examples or representative names of those who have determination and dedication. There are also various diligent labor unions in the field and also an institution called Kisan Sabha. But the main question is there any socialists left in India. This refers to socialists in party politics who offering electoral options and support, aking in which the constitution of India calls justice in areas of social, economic, and political. Socialists are now encountered in the various freedom struggle and in the histories of parties like Congress Socialist Party, the Socialist Party, The Praja Socialist Party, The Samyukta Socialist Party. Various inspired men and women who are committed to egalitarian order, non- monopolist economic system, and those who do not believe in violence are to be found in the Communist Party of India and Marxist.

But the question is not about Indian Communist but Indian Socialist. Indian Socialist was an individualist who has a free spirit with liberty and equality. The Indian Socialist is not interested in holding office personally. Indian Socialists held Gandhi in esteem intellectually with affection. This did not allow impeding other influences like B.R Ambedkar. The Indian Socialist should be a person of great personal probity following simple life and even spartan life. An Indian socialist should be a thinker first then a doer and then a strategist. These five qualities can be seen in Narendra Deva, JP Kamala Devi, and Lohia which made them attractive personally. It brought them several admirers and adherents.

There are other two features one is personal and the other is philosophical. The Indian Socialist was Gandhian enough to wear Khadi. The philosophical quality of a socialist is the absence of fear of defeat. Indian socialist even had a defeat wish. Socialists survived politically but perished philosophically. Success is eluded by an Indian Socialist. An Indian Socialist is not a politician but is a thinker who was in politics. Socialism is not a creed, a propensity to outrage is what we receive from Indian Socialism. This is a direction which Gandhi called the inner voice.
