Dated 4 April 2021, The National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) announced the names of its 15 member shooting that will represent India at the Tokyo Olympic Games 2021, scheduled in the Japanese capital, commencing from 23 July 2021. The shooters have been chosen, based on their performance in the NRAI’s Olympic qualifying cycle. The cycle started from the 2018 Jakarta Asian Games, moving forward to the World Championship, followed by the four World Cups, and Asian Championships in 2019. Earlier this year, the final stage consisted of selection trails that were organized by NRAI. Due to unpredictability caused by the pandemic, The National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) has reserved two shooters in each category. Currently, number one in the world Women’s 10m air rifle, Elavenil Valarivan has been included in the 15-member Indian shooting contingent at the Tokyo Olympics where the Indian shooting superstar Manu Bhaker will participate in three events. Chinki Yadav could not make it to the main team despite winning a gold medal in the recent New Delhi Shooting World Cup. Elavenil Valarivan will be partnering alongside former world number one in the discipline, Apurvi Chandela. She will also be grouping up with Divyansh Singh Panwar, Deepak Kumar, and Anjum Moudgil for the 10m air rifle mixed event. It was decided by the National Selection Committee that the quota won by Chinki Yadav in the women’s 25m pistol event could be swapped to Anjum Moudgil's benefit, enabling her to compete in the women's 50m rifle 3 position event alongside the proficient Tejaswini Sawant. Both Sunidhi Chauhan and Gaayathri Nithyanandam will be reserve shooters for the event. Both Chinki Yadav alongside Abhidnya Patil will act as a reserve for women’s 25m sports pistol event. Anjum Moudgil and Shreya Agarwal will be kept as reserves in the women’s 10m air rifle event. Manu Bhaker will be seen alongside the experienced Rahi Sarnobat in the women's 25m pistol event, as well as in with gold medal winner Yashaswini Singh Deswal in the women’s 10m air pistol event P Shri Nivetha and Shweta Singh to remain reserves for the women’s 10m air pistol event. Men’s 10m air rifle champion, Divyansh Singh Panwar is included in the 15 member team along with Sergeant Deepak Kumar in the Men’s 10m air rifle event. Sandeep Singh will act as a reserve, alongside Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar who will also be a part of Men’s 50m rifle 3-position. Arjuna Awardee Indian shooter will also be representing India in the Men’s 50m rifle 3-position. Swapnil Kusale, Chain Singh will be the two reserves for the event. The Youngest Indian gold medalist holder at the Asian Games 2018, Saurabh Chaudhary will participate in the Men’s 10m air pistol event as well as partner up with Manu Bhaker for the 10m air pistol mixed event. Indian sport shooter will be a part of the Men’s10m air pistol event along with Shahzar Rizvi and Om Prakash Mitharval for the event. Angad Vir Singh Bajwa, Mairaj Ahmad Khan, and reserves Gurjoat Singh Khangura, Sheeraz Sheikh will be representing the country in Skeet. Saurabh Chaudhary, Manu Bhaker; Abhishek Verma, Yashaswini Singh Deswal will be teaming up for the 10m air pistol mixed event.
