In the last 24 hours, India has reported 1,52,879 fresh Covid-19 infections, leaving another grim one-day record as the country’s tally crosses over 1.33 crore cases. The country had added as many as 839 deaths in the last 24 hours pushed the toll to 1.69 lakh. A four-day-long ‘Tika Utsav’ launched on Sunday dated 11 April 2021, in India intending to vaccinate a maximum number of eligible people against Covid -19. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had called for the “Tika Utsav” on Thursday, during his meeting with chief ministers to discuss the coronavirus situation in India Inaugurating the mass vaccination festival on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared this as the second big war on Covid-19. He said that the ‘Tika Utsav’ is going to start today (Sunday). He urged the people of this country to abide by 4 things. The first being to assist those who need help getting vaccinated, to help people in Covid treatment, to wear masks and motivate others to the same, and in case someone tests positive, create a micro-a containment zone in the area. Numerous states such as Uttar Pradesh and Bihar have boosted their efforts to double inoculations and have appealed to people, to get vaccinated in this four-day program. Adityanath visited the Shakti Bhawan to inspect the ‘Tikka Utsav’. All Eligible for the vaccine must join the vaccination drive. To be a part of the campaign, people above the age of 45 can register themselves at their nearby vaccination centers. He further stated that there are 6000 centers currently running the vaccination drives. Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa called the coronavirus vaccine the “biggest weapon” in the fight against coronavirus and urged all eligible people in the southern states to get vaccinated and be part of the campaign. Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and several other states have ramped up efforts to double the number of vaccinations during the vaccination festival. Telangana on Saturday notified the Centre that its vaccine stocks would last for not more than another three days. The state has asked the Centre to provide 30 lakh vaccines for the next 15 days. Punjab and Delhi have also conveyed to the Centre that they were grappling with a shortage in the stock of vaccines amid a surge in infections. Vaccination centers in many states, including Maharashtra, have been shutting early and turning away people because of the lack of supplies. Some centers have been shut down due to vaccine shortages.
